Jan. 10th, 2010. The annual
meeting was a success and well received by the
members who attended. We have been making
progress with our financial issues, and hope that
you all ask God for his guidance on how you can make
a commitment to share with others what you have been
blessed with by our Creator. We looked at the
big picture, which was a bit much to take in;
however, when we look at what happens when we all
work together toward a common goal, the numbers seem
quite a bit more manageable. God wants our
commitment, and part of that commitment is a
commitment to each other as brothers and sisters in
Jesus.
In the coming weeks, the minutes
of the annual meeting will be published on this site
and forwarded by conventional means to everyone
listed on the Emanuel Lutheran roster. Along
with the minutes we will include a copy of the
approved budget, and BY NUMBERS ONLY statistical
information on 2009's commitments.
Additionally, if you are unable to attend services
on a regular basis, and still wish to fulfill a
commitment to God, contact one of your council
members or the Emanuel office for information.
Tim and Teresa Reasoner were selected
to represent Emanuel at the Synod Assembly, May
14-15th, 2010, in Vancouver, WA.
We also discussed the sale of the
unused portion of our back lot as an option in
meeting our financial commitments. This
action; however, will require congregational
approval. The council will discuss this option
and alternatives in the next few months and will
present a proposal at a special congregational
meeting. Any suggestions from the congregation
to the council will be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to our newly elected
church council members: Keri May, Marjan
Morrish, Cristina Slease and Mike Mathews.
Special thanks to those whose council
terms have expired or were not able to continue to
serve: Denia Taylor, Bob White, Mary Didszun;
and a special thanks to Keith Hall, our outgoing
council president for his dedication and unexpected
selection as council president during 2008.
Keith then volunteered to continue as council
president into 2009 after facing significant
challenges in 2008. At
7:00pm, Tuesday, January 12th, 2010, the council
will meet at Emanuel to elect the officers of the
council for 2010, and appoint liaisons for the
various ministries within the church.
Remember, council meetings are open to the entire
congregation. We welcome your presence and
incite to the issues discussed at the council
meetings. We look forward to
serving you in the coming year, and are excited to
watch our progress and growth. We pray that
God guides us in our decisions, and that His will
for Emanuel Lutheran and the Yelm area communities
remains our primary focus. -
